Biography

Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, USSR, Jane Zeltser emigrated to the United States in 1989 as a political refugee with her family and found assimilating challenging due to cultural food differences and acculturation. Jane struggled with eating disorders from the age of five, and after she went into recovery in 2005, she became a passionate advocate for the cause.

She worked hard to come full circle by joining Eating Recovery Center Pathlight in the East Region as Practice Manager in March 2023. Jane acted as Ambassador for Project HEAL, NAMI Metro Baltimore, Eating Disorders Coalition, and lead a group of peer recovery mentors for ANAD (National Association for Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders) and volunteered for their live helpline. She enjoys using her lived experience to work with local and marginalized eating disorder communities. One of her proudest moments was collecting co-sponsor signatures from House Delegates at the State House in Annapolis for a bill to ban the sale of over-the-counter diet pills and supplements for minors in Maryland. As a proud Say It Brave Collective member, Jane continues to share her story in hopes of educating her social media followers and reminding them that recovery is possible with the right support and resources.
